NMTC support new childcare facility in Clifton

Mesa County Public Health (MCPH) is developing a new early childcare education (ECE) center in Clifton, an area in Mesa County where families struggle to find childcare and face other challenges due to low income and high unemployment. To address these community issues, the project will include an ECE Training Hub to teach and certify 250 new ECE providers annually. The project will create 65 new permanent jobs and 96 construction jobs. The facilities are expected to open in 2023.

To support the new construction of the ECE center and training hub, $8.5 million in New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) was awarded by the Colorado Growth and Revitalization Fund (CGR Fund), administered by CHFA.

CHFA also announced in November that the CGR Fund was awarded $50 million in NMTC by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund), marking the fifth consecutive annual award received. NMTC are designed to generate private-sector investment in underserved communities by supporting local businesses or nonprofits that directly benefit current residents by either hiring from within the community and/or providing community services. The CGR Fund uses NMTC to support projects such as community facilities, mixed-use developments, and businesses that pay living wages.

CHFA’s Like it Forward campaign benefits Center for African American Health

Like It Forward is CHFA’s annual social media campaign to benefit Colorado nonprofits whose work aligns with CHFA’s mission to invest in affordable housing and community development.

This year’s Like It Forward campaign benefits The Center for African American Health (CAA Health), a nonprofit serving African American and Black Metro Denver communities by offering culturally responsive resources that support them in overcoming the root causes of health problems so they can maximize their individual and family health.

In 2022, CAA Health is celebrating 25 years of serving as a leading health equity and family resources organization, helping to improve access to quality physical and mental health care, healthy food, economic stability, and social/community support. In 2021, CAA Health directly served more than 6,730 clients.

Between November 29th and December 15th CHFA shared #LikeItForeward22 posts on its Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts, featuring information about CAA Health. For each like and share the posts receive, CHFA will donate $5 to CAA Health.
