CHFA supports mixed-income development in Sun Valley
Gateway South Apartments is a new 92-unit housing development consisting of 27 public housing units, 31 affordable rental housing units, and 34 market-rate units. Gateway South is part of Denver Housing Authority’s (DHA) revitalization of the Sun Valley neighborhood. DHA received a $30 million Choice Neighborhoods Implementation grant from HUD to replace 333 obsolete public housing units as part of master plan. The master plan will eventually create over 750 mixed-income units in a total of six phases.
CHFA supported Gateway South with a $6.38 million SMART loan. Gateway South was also awarded federal 9 percent Housing Tax Credits in 2018.

St. Mary’s Academy to undergo improvements with support of bond financing
St. Mary’s Academy is an independent, Catholic coeducational preK-8 and all-girls high school in Denver, established in 1864 by the Sisters of Loretto. CHFA is supporting St. Mary’s Academy by providing $4 million in 501c3 tax-exempt bonds for a renovation and improvement project. The project includes the renovation of three science labs and lower level of the high school corridor, and artificial turf installation on the soccer and softball fields to support the academy’s long-term sustainability goals.

Corporate Giving supports summer camp opportunities for youth in need
Village Exchange Center (VEC), located in northwest Aurora, offers its Global Village Day Camp to support youth ages five to 16, with at least 50 percent or more of spaces held for youth who are refugees and immigrants. Global Village celebrates cultural diversity, artistic creativity, and sustainable living and believes that the diversity of our communities, and the world at large, is a great strength. CHFA provided a $4,500 donation to support tuition scholarships for participants with low income.

Housing Solutions Summit
The Southeast Regional Leadership Committee serving Baca, Bent, Crowley, Huerfano, Kiowa, Las Animas, Otero, and Prowers counties presented the Southeast Housing Solutions Summit on July 14th. The event focused on addressing the region’s housing stock crisis by educating, collaborating, and action-planning. CHFA was a proud sponsor.
Bankers Foundation Fundraiser
The Bankers Foundation of Colorado is a charitable organization comprised of Colorado community bankers founded in 2001 that helps individuals and families in need of financial assistance. The organization hosted a golf tournament on July 25th, which is one of its primary fundraisers. CHFA was a proud sponsor.
Club 20 Summer Meetings
Club 20 held two rounds of its annual Summer Policy Meetings, July 14th-15th and July 28th-29th. Attendees learned about current legislation and issues impacting the Western Slope region and evaluated new and existing policy resolutions. The meetings also included presentations from subject matter experts and industry leaders. CHFA was a proud sponsor.
